Abstract

2012-04-15 to 2013-12-20
The main aim of the Longmenshan project is to study the structure and seismicity in the vicinity of the Longmenshan fault, which forms part of the eastern border of the Tibet plateau in China. The Longmenshan fault hosted a Mw=7.9 earthquake in May 2008. A deep drillhole is planned about 40 km northeast of the epicentre of the earthquake. In June 2012 an array of 80 broadband seismic stations, including 50 from GIPP, was deployed covering the region of the epicentre of the Mw=7.9 earthquake in May 2008 and the site of the planned deep drillhole. It is planned that the array will record until November 2013.
