With a magnetotelluric (MT) experiment we study the remnants of Archean suture zones within the Barberton Greenstone Belt (South Africa) on a lithospheric scale. The experiment consists of a 120km long MT profile surrounded by an array of MT sites. The MT data will be acquired in October 2008 and will provide a basis for multi-disciplinary synthesis of results to understand the tectonics of Early Earth.
