Abstract

The Western Makran Transect :
2017-08-01 to 2017-09-24
Two amphibious, crustal scale, wide-angle experiments will be carried out, running 1) from Oman through the Gulf of Oman to Iran, and 2) from the Arabian Sea to Iran, to study the Makran subduction zone. Geometrical information on the structure of the subduction zone is needed for Tsunami forecasting by modelling (as part of a future Tsunami Early Warning System ). Furthermore, the general architecture of the subduction zone, particularly the Makran accretionary wedge, will be studied.
