Abstract

DErisking Exploration for geothermal Plays in magmatic ENvironments III:
2021-05-19 to 2021-08-31
Embarking on production for any resource in new areas is a high-risk endeavor, as there is only inferred knowledge of the subsurface. To reduce the risk of unsuccessful drilling or triggering seismicity, it is of critical importance to improve seismic imaging. This project will allow us to push forward methodological developments to image the subsurface with unprecedented resolution. We are taking advantage of a planned deep drilling project in Iceland to test and validate the imaging capabilities in realistic and challenging environments before transferring them to target applications in Switzerland and Germany.
