Abstract

Multiscale observation services for mining-related deposits:
2024-12-02 to 2025-05-30
Within the MOSMIN project mining-related deposits (rock wastes, tailings and stockpiles) will be investigated based on a combination of Earth-observation (stallite) and in situ geophysical data. The scope of work of GFZ in MOSMIN consists in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of ambient seismic noise data recorded using seismic networks and fiber optics sensing for 1) imaging the internal structure of mining-generated waste rock deposits, and 2) monitoring the long term behaviour of tailings dams.
